Jess Adams is a performing artist from Oreland, Pennsylvania.  Presently, she is an Associate Artist for Almanac Dance Circus Theatre in Philadelphia.  Since joining Almanac in October 2017, Jess has performed collaborative acrobatic, dance, and theater shows at private events and fundraisers.  These avant-garde performances took place at venues including but not limited to The Fillmore,  the Asian Arts Initiative, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Philadelphia Convention Center.  Jess performed in Almanac's The Equinox Series: Harvest and Sowing, a bi-annual micro-residency and mixed bill showcase held at the company's home-base at the Maas Building in Philadelphia.

Most recently, she was a principle singer in Almanac's musical acrobatic production of Human Camouflage: The Discoveries of Jeanne Baret at the New York Botanical Gardens.  Under Almanac, Jess performs for Young Audiences of New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania providing AcroAction!, a year-round, educational program for K-12.  Additionally with Alamanac, she takes part in offering AlmanAcro--free open ensemble circus workshops for the community.

Since June 2017, Jess has flown into aerial work at Secret Circus in East Falls.  She seeks an additional performance passion in aerial trapeze, silks, rope, sling, and lyra, while working independently as a dancer and choreographer.  In June 2018 she will perform her first solo dance trapeze act at Secret Circus.  Jess is also invited and will perform her solo dance choreography Un-Numbing again in May 2018 for ETC Performance Series at the Community Education Center.  This piece first premiered in October 2017 when Jess performed for RAW: Philadelphia's Savor at The Trocadero and for the Koresh Artist Showcase at Koresh Dance.

In the past, Jess worked as a dancer and aerialist for the Norwegian Jewel (December 2016-June 2017) touring the Panama Canal, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Columbia, Mexico, Alaska and Canada. Jess performed production shows under the direction of Ricky Whitfield and Jenn Rapp Pearl, including Band on The Run, Le Cirque Bijou, Let's Get Loud, Latin, Vacation, White Hot, and an Abba tribute, Mamma Mia!

Jess graduated with a BFA in Dance from The University of the Arts (UArts) in Philadelphia on scholarship with honors in May of 2016.  During her time at UArts, Jess worked with and performed choreography by Sidra Bell, Jesse Zaritt, Robert Battle, Ronen Koresh, Shen Wei, Dinita and Kyle Clark, Wayne St. David, Tommie Waheed-Evans, Gary Jeter, and Netta Yerushalmy.  In the Spring of 2016, she was honored to perform excerpts from Douglas Becker's Vile Parody and Katie Swords Thurman's Casting into The Void in Lille, France and Brussels, Belgium as one of thirteen dancers chosen for the UArts’ Touring Europe Ensemble.

Jess danced for Brian Sanders’ JUNK Snowball 2016 at Union Transfer, and she performed at the Manhattan Movement Arts Theater for Ballet Inc.’s showcase The Series Vol. 1 in July 2016.

During the summer of 2015 she attended The School at Jacob’s Pillow on scholarship for the Social Dances: Jazz to Hip Hop intensive.  There she attended social dance workshops and performed works by the program directors, Camille A. Brown and Eric Moncell E. Durden, and guest artists, Francine Ott and Adesola Osakalumi.  Jess was invited to attend the Augusta Heritage Festival of 2015 at Davis & Elkins College in Elkins, WV on scholarship, studying American vernacular dance.

Jess choreographed and performed for film under the direction of UArts alumni Walt Ribeiro and Tyger B in 2014, and she performed for Heather Gaffin’s TranscenDance Company in 2012.  She has choreographed and taught a variety of dance classes at 12th Street Gym, Edge Dance Company, and Stars Studio of Dance and Performing Arts since 2010 and continues to teach at Stars Dance Center and Dance Dynamics today.  Jess presented her work Subluxation at UArts in the Winter of 2015.  She explores her own contemporary-fusion movement and continues to choreograph her own projects and performances in hopes of expanding her versatility.
